Mozilla Issues Advisories To Patch Vulnerabilities Posted By: eccuni
One of the ways, cybercriminals gain remote access, steal information, alter or destroy files and use your computer system for botnet attack is by exploiting vulnerabilities in web browsers. Attackers may exploit web browser vulnerabilities to launch cross-site scripting attacks, execute arbitrary commands, and disguise web page addresses among several others. Attackers exploit vulnerabilities associated with ActiveX control, Javascript and programming flaws in Plug-ins to compromise computer systems. They may also use cookies to gain unauthorized access to a site. Therefore, it is important to configure web browsers securely. Developers issue updates to mitigate vulnerabilities identified by security researchers.
Recently, Mozilla announced seven security advisories to address multiple vulnerabilities, which could allow arbitrary code execution, information disclosure, privilege escalation and directory traversal. The security updates also address dangling pointer vulnerabilities and security issues in recently introduced WebGL feature.
One of the security advisories addresses multiple memory safety and crash issues, which could cause memory corruption. The vulnerabilities have been rated as critical as they could be exploited to run arbitrary code.
